T16 Monteverde Cloud Forest - Treetop Walkways (Hanging Bridges) - 3 days

Day 1

San José - Monteverde
Pick-up at your hotel in San José by a shuttle bus and ride northbound on the Interamericana; the last 35 km of this journey takes you up into the mountains, over a winding gravel road toward Sta. Elena in the Monteverde Cloud Forest region. Arrival in the early afternoon at the Arco Iris Lodge, a very personally managed hotel with rustic, nicely decorated cabins in a beautiful garden.

Day 2

Monteverde Cloud Forest Region / Hanging Bridges - Treetop Walkways
Your adventurous day begins with a "walk in the clouds." Start with your feet on the ground, hiking through lush forest toward the “Treetop Walkways" of Selvatura; suspended bridges, platforms and trails elevated deep within the canopy of the cloud forest. From here we are allowed a gentle, rare glimpse through the tops of giant trees into the nether regions of this hidden world that would otherwise remain a mystery to most of us. While exploring the different trails keep your binoculars or camera handy, since you might catch a glimpse of the rare and famous bird of kings – the Quetzal! There are numerous optional activities that you are welcome to enjoy during the remainder of your afternoon, including a visit to the Frog Pond, the Snake Farm, or the Orchid Garden.

Day 3

Monteverde - San Jose (or next destination)
Today the shuttle bus will take you back to San José (morning or afternoon departures possible). OR, alternatively, take a shuttle bus to another destination (upon request).
